How to: Roll Back a Sync

Modified on Wed, 21 Jan at 8:35 AM

Overview

Rolling back a media plan sync allows you to restore a previous version of campaign data in Advvy if a sync was performed incorrectly or caused issues.

Advvy provides two ways to roll back a sync:

  • Re-syncing an older version of the Excel media plan

  • Reloading a previously completed sync from Campaign Import Jobs

Both methods replace the current campaign data with an earlier version.

When Should You Roll Back a Sync?

Rolling back a sync is useful when:

  • Incorrect data was synced to the Campaign

  • Changes caused validation or reporting issues

  • A sync was run against the wrong Campaign

  • You need to quickly revert to a previously validated version

Method 1: Re-Sync an Older Media Plan

This method restores campaign data by syncing a previous version of the Excel media plan.

Steps

  1. Open the older version of the media plan workbook in Excel

  2. Connect the Advvy Add-in to the correct environment

  3. Connect the Add-in to the correct Campaign

  4. Select Sync Media Plan

What Happens

  • Advvy overwrites the current campaign data

  • Media and fee data reflect the contents of the older Excel file

  • The sync is recorded as a new Campaign Import Job

Tip: This method is best if you already have a clean, validated Excel version available.

Method 2: Reload a Previous Sync

Advvy stores historical media plan syncs, allowing you to reload a prior version directly from the platform.

Steps

  1. Open the Campaign in Advvy

  2. Navigate to Related → Campaign Import Jobs

  3. Open the Import Job corresponding to the version you want to restore

  4. Select Reload from the ribbon at the top of the page

The campaign data will be restored exactly as it existed at the time of that Import Job.

What Happens

  • All current campaign media and fee data is replaced

  • No changes are required in the Excel media plan

  • Campaign Plan+ and Media Summary are updated automatically

Tip: Reloading is the fastest way to undo an incorrect sync without re-editing Excel files.

Important Things to Be Aware Of

  • Rolling back a sync overwrites all current campaign plan data

  • Reloading does not merge data — it fully restores a snapshot

  • Reload actions are logged for auditing purposes

Best Practices

  • Confirm the correct Import Job before selecting Reload

  • Use clear naming and version control for Excel media plans

  • Validate campaign data after rollback using Campaign Plan+ and Media Summary
