Overview
This article explains how to manage Parent and Child Campaigns day to day and how roll-up functionality and reporting work once campaigns are linked.
Parent and Child Campaigns allow teams to work independently at the Child level while maintaining consolidated reporting and visibility at the Parent level.
Managing Parent & Child Campaigns
Editing Campaigns
Parent and Child Campaigns can be edited independently.
Changes made to a Parent Campaign (such as date updates or high-level details) may cascade depending on system behaviour or organisational settings
Changes made to a Child Campaign do not automatically update the Parent Campaign unless manually edited
This separation allows flexibility while maintaining governance.
Managing Child Campaign Relationships
From the Parent Campaign:
Open the Child Campaigns tab to view all linked Child Campaigns
Navigate directly to individual Child Campaign records
Add or remove Child Campaigns as required
When a Child Campaign is removed:
It is immediately excluded from Parent-level roll-ups and reporting
The Child Campaign remains available as a standalone campaign
Managing Media Plans and Activity
Media plans are created, updated, and synced at the Child Campaign level
Parent Campaigns do not ingest media plans directly
Any updates to Child Campaign media plans are automatically reflected in Parent roll-ups
Important: Do not attempt to sync media plans directly to Parent Campaigns.
Roll-Up Functionality
What Rolls Up to the Parent Campaign
Once campaigns are linked, Advvy automatically aggregates data from all Child Campaigns into the Parent Campaign.
The following information rolls up:
Media activity and spend
Fees and charges
Media Summary totals
Flighting and schedule data
Linked Child Campaigns
Campaign Plan+ Roll-Up View
When viewing Campaign Plan+ on a Parent Campaign:
Activity from all linked Child Campaigns is displayed together
Filters can be applied to isolate specific markets, channels, phases, or products
Data is read-only at the Parent level
This view is ideal for high-level analysis and validation.
Media Summary Roll-Up
The Media Summary tab on a Parent Campaign provides:
Consolidated spend and fee totals
Budget vs actuals across all Child Campaigns
A quick snapshot of overall campaign performance
Reporting and Analysis
What You Can Do at the Parent Level
From the Parent Campaign, you can:
View consolidated reporting for the entire initiative
Drill down into individual Child Campaigns for detailed insights
Filter reporting by market, channel, phase, product, or objective (depending on structure)
Common Reporting Scenarios
Multi-market budget and performance tracking
Phase-based reporting for launch and sustain periods
Channel-level roll-ups across a single initiative
